OnSite Support Working With Align JV On Dedicated PPE Laundry Centre

OnSite Support have partnered with Align JVto bring a dedicated PPE laundry centre to their HS2 South Portal site.

OnSite Support are the nominated supplier for PPE and Consumables for Align JV. Since being awarded the contract, OnSite Support have brought forward many opportunities to collaborate with Align JV and other contractors working on HS2 Phase One.

Align JV, that is delivering the Central 1(C1) section of HS2 Phase One, has taken innovative steps with OnSite Support, to bring forward teamwork and collaboration to their project through the implementation of an on-site laundry centre on their South Portal site at West Hyde.

Through this collaboration, OnSite Support were able to support Align JV by ensuring value for money is driven across the project, whilst engaging with the local communities within and beyond the project in order to build a positive legacy for Britain.

Having a dedicated laundry on site, is the best way to keep a PPE wearer’s garments clean and safe to use. Customised laundering for different types of PPE helps improve not just the comfort for the wearer, but also at the same time, extends the life of PPE garments until they need to be disposed of.

Having a laundry centre on site also helps lower the environmental impact of the project. Through a bespoke app, OnSite Support are able to track the garment through its lifecycle and at the end of its useful life, garments can be recycled using OnSite Support’s PPE and packaging recycling service – in a socially responsible way. In addition, this results with fewer vehicular movements, relating to PPE deliveries, which has a positive impact on the environment and the surrounding community.

Neil Hancox, Align’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing Director, said:

“The collaboration between OnSite Support and Align has brought about a market leading site-based solution, that brings meaningful data to enable efficiency and economy with a solution that guarantees that we get the full life out of our PPE, including a recycling service with 100% diversion from landfill. Having the facility on site means a quick turnaround for the team and reduces the logistics and associated carbon and transport costs associated with use of offsite services.

We’ve seen great benefits so far, including:

  • Happy staff and sub-contractors

  • Improved wellbeing for staff

  • Greater value and cost savings for the project

  • Forward-thinking innovation in data – with the reporting technology

  • Sustainable and environmental benefits

This is how we can make a change in the construction industry and leave a legacy for this important infrastructure project, and hopefully many other projects in the future.”

Warren Lynes, managing director of OnSite Support said:

“We are glad of the opportunity to support this HS2 project and other projects. Collaboration isn’t always the easy option and in our sector there are commercial considerations and sensitivity we need to work with; however, the sector is changing, and companies are open to new ways of working – bringing forward more opportunities to not just improve operational efficiencies but to meet the project’s sustainability and innovation goals.”
