The History Of OnSite Support

In 1976 CEO Richard Lynes started what would later be known as OnSite Support, operating from his home and greenhouse in Surrey.  Now 48 years later OnSite Support has become the leading national supplier of Safety, clothing, site welfare, site equipment, tools and engineering accessories to some of the largest construction projects in the UK.

Some of the most successful companies in the world started out in garages; Apple, Google, Amazon, Hewlett-Packard to name a few … But what about Greenhouses?

While we may not be on quite the same scale as some of these household names, at OnSite Support we continue to be totally committed to improving our service for our customers. This has included:

  • Moving into our current HQ and production facility in Three Bridges, West Sussex in 2004
  • Continually growing over the decades despite all the global economic challenges
  • Going live with our e-commerce website in the early 2000s
  • Rebranding from OnSite Supplies to OnSite Support in 2012
  • Launching our innovative PLUS programme in 2018
  • Introducing our ERP system to provide better customer service and integration
  • Sharing our Building Better sustainability strategy for the first time in 2022
  • Being awarded the FORS gold for providing logistics excellence in 2022 (and maintaining this in 2023/24)
  • Adding 3 new routes on our own fleet in 2023 after opening up our additional logistics base in Liverpool
  • Announcing our new trade counter in Suffolk to support the Sizewell C project opening in 2024

And that’s just naming a few of our most memorable accomplishments!

Since 2018, OnSite Support has also undergone a makeover, with a whole new look to better reflect us as a company and where we see ourselves heading in the future. This included introducing a new value of working sustainably with both the industry and us as individuals putting greater emphasis of the importance of sustainability.

Despite the significant changes throughout its lifetime, one thing has remained consistent for OnSite Support – for us, safety starts and finishes with people. To us, Everybody Matters. Our target is to provide quality products and quality service to 100% of our customers.

Richard Lynes, CEO commented “OnSite Support continues to look ahead to provide our clients with more than merely supplies. Our goal is to provide support for the client with reliable, innovative processes all incorporated in business to give the OnSite Experience.”

We are excited for all the exciting things we have coming up in 2024 and beyond and most importantly continuing our mission to support the construction industry to work better, safer and more sustainably.
